The "Société du patrimoine des Beaucerons" (Society
of patrimony of Beaucerons) is the best historical and genealogical research
center of Beauce. Its influence and its expertise in the history, archives,
genealogy, patrimony and architecture of the area are well recognized, even
beyond our borders. It highlights the memory of Beauce with its hundreds
of fonds of archives of various sources, in particular:
-one of the largest photographic collections in Quebec (more than 640 000
pieces), of which there are very old photographs, on interesting subjects
in the sought out topics, of great value, of which several of national importance;
-more than 160 linear meters of textual archives;
-more than 1 300 old maps and plans.
Having an important cultural and educational role, the "Société du
patrimoine des Beaucerons" (Society of patrimony of Beaucerons) is the
only organization of Beauce-Etchemin having the mandate to acquire, process,
computerize, preserve and diffuse the historical files of the area, while
following the international archive science standards recognized by the Canadian
Council of archives.
The "Société du patrimoine des Beaucerons" (Society
of patrimony of Beaucerons) gives researchers an important documentation
on the region of Beauce: all monographs of the history of the municipalities
of the area, an important collection of regional newspapers, invaluable cadastral
documents, architectural inventories realized by the SPB, a vast collection
of volumes of history and repertories of genealogy. It also gives complete
access to the P.R.D.H. ("Programme de recherche en démographie
historique de l'Université de Montréal" (research program
in historical demography of the University of Montreal)) which constitutes
one of the best tools of genealogical research.
Partner of the "Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec"(BANQ)
(Library and Public records of Quebec) , of the Foundation Robert-Cliche
and of the "Municipalités Régionales de Comté"(MRC)(Regional
Municipalities of County) of the Nouvelle-Beauce, Robert-Cliche and of Beauce-Sartigan;
the "Société du patrimoine des Beaucerons" (Society
of patrimony of Beaucerons) is one of the most frequented regional centers
of private archives in Quebec. Each year, it receives approximately 1 000
researchers and answers more than 1 200 requests for information.
